Körber AG pursues internationalization by acquiring Efacec Handling Solutions

The acquisition of Efacec Handling Solutions is a strategic fit for Körber’s Business Area Logistics Systems. The companies in the Business Area already provide world-class, smart and efficient logistics solutions along the customers’ value chain. These range from project planning, consulting and software through technology for conveyers, palletizing and storage to holistic systems integration for manufacturing, distribution and transportation logistics.
Efacec Handling Solutions will complement the Business Area especially with its international footprint. Efacec Handling Solutions is a subsidiary of Portuguese Efacec Group and head-quartered in Porto, Portugal. Background of the sale of Efacec Handling Solutions is a new strategic positioning. With its 180 employees Efacec Handling Solutions is a much valued business partner for various industries in Portugal, Spain and Belgium as well as in Eastern Europe. With a sales office in Singapore and a production site near Mumbai, India (ran as Joint Venture with Indian Godrej Group) it also has a strong base on the Asian market. Efacec Handling Solutions is offering a wide range of services and integrated solutions for handling applications, such as automated storage and retrieval systems, automated distribution centers, order fulfillment systems and baggage handling systems.
As a system integrator Efacec Handling Solutions additionally implements hardware solutions from its own product portfolio. The portfolio includes stacker cranes, miniloads, conveyors, automated guided vehicles, rail guided vehicles, sorting machines and a warehouse management system (WMS).

Hintergrund des Verkaufs des Tochterunternehmens an Körber ist eine strategische Neuausrichtung der Efacec Group.

Efacec Handling Solutions mit 180 Beschäftigten wird in Portugal, Spanien und Belgien sowie Osteuropa bei Kunden aus zahlreichen Branchen als Geschäftspartner und Zulieferer geschätzt. Mit einer Handelsvertretung in Singapur und einem Fertigungsstandort bei Mumbai in Indien (als Joint Venture mit der Indian Godrej Group) verfügt Efacec Handling Solutions auch im asiatischen Markt über eine starke Präsenz. Das breite Angebot an Dienstleistungen und integrierten Lösungen für Förderanwendungen umfasst unter anderem automatisierte Hochregallager, Distributionszentren, Auftragsabwicklungssysteme und Gepäckabfertigungssysteme. 

Darüber hinaus implementiert Efacec Handling Solutions als Systemintegrator Hardwarelösungen aus dem eigenen Produktportfolio. Zu diesem gehören unter anderem Regalbediengeräte, Lagerlifts, Bandförderer, fahrerlose Transportfahrzeuge, spurgeführte Fahrzeuge, Sortiermaschinen und ein Lagerverwaltungssystem (LVS). 
„Wir freuen uns, das Team von Efacec Handling Solutions im Körber-Konzern willkommen zu heißen“, sagt Hildemar Böhm, Mitglied des Körber-Konzernvorstands. „Efacec stärkt nicht nur unser Portfolio, sondern passt insbesondere zu unseren Internationalisierungsbestrebungen.“
